Hi! I’m Delfi, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve been a language teacher for the past 4 years, working with students from all around the world right here in beautiful Bali and online through iTalki. Over the years, I’ve helped 400+ students of all ages – from young children to families – gain confidence and real-world skills in using the language they’re learning.

🌏 I offer Bahasa Indonesia lessons for foreigners who want to connect more deeply with the culture and people here in Indonesia – whether you’re traveling, living here long-term, or just curious to learn.

🇮🇩 I also teach English to local Indonesians who are looking to improve their speaking skills, gain confidence, and open up new opportunities in work, study, or travel.

But I don’t just want to be your teacher — I want to be your language partner and Indonesian friend on this journey.

📚 My approach is informal, conversational, and local. Instead of memorizing textbook phrases, you’ll learn the kinds of expressions and vocabulary that are actually used day-to-day by locals. We’ll talk about real life in Indonesia — food, culture, travel, and everyday interactions — so you can truly live the language, not just study it.

Speak like a local

One of the most rewarding parts of learning Bahasa Indonesia is being able to connect with people on a deeper level. When I first started using simple phrases in everyday conversations, the smiles I got in return were priceless. Speaking the local language—even just a little—shows respect, breaks down barriers, and opens up real, meaningful interactions. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being present. And trust me, locals really appreciate the effort.

Food & Culture

Language and culture go hand in hand. Learning Bahasa Indonesia helped me understand not just what people were saying, but why. I could finally follow along at family meals, understand the stories behind traditional dishes, and laugh at the jokes that used to go over my head. Whether it's learning what sambal really means to someone, or asking for your favorite jajan pasar at the local market, knowing the language lets you taste the culture in a whole new way.

Travel

Indonesia is huge—over 17,000 islands, and each one has its own charm. Learning Bahasa Indonesia turned my trips into adventures, not just visits. I felt more confident exploring off-the-beaten-path spots, asking locals for recommendations, and navigating everything from street food stalls to ferries. You don’t need to be fluent to travel well, but a few key phrases can turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

Defli’s a great conversation partner. She’s funny and charming, but at the same patient enough to allow me to search for the right word, or try to express myself – and then explain and correct afterwards. Highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for a Bahasa conversation partner.

A very comfortable teacher! It is very comfortable to communicate, although I have a low level of English. It was comfortable to stop and ask for an explanation several times in a row.

I believe everyone learns languages differently—and that’s something to celebrate. Some of us thrive with flashcards and grammar drills, while others need conversation, music, or visual cues to really absorb new words.
